In an ideal world, I’d make everything from scratch or grab a vegan snack from Arden’s Garden – but, ain’t nobody got time for that.

Quick Grilled Salmon + Gingered Carrots with the TECHEF Grill Pan

Quick Grilled Salmon + Gingered Carrots with the TECHEF Grill Pan

The new TECHEF Indoor Grill Pan is great for cooking meats and seafood inside the house! I simply put the two piece grill pan onto my gas stovetop and started grilling with my burner heat on high.

The process for grilling salmon is very easy. Simply buy fresh quality salmon ( I get mine from Catalina Offshore in San Diego as they are handsdown the best fish market in the county). I only seasoned with herb salts and pepper. Quality fish does not need marinade!

You don’t need to add ANY oil to this TECHEF Grill Pan, however I did add just a tiny bit of olive oil because I like how it tastes and crisps up the skin.

Cook the salmon on high and watch the ‘white line’ on the side of the fish as it cooks up. When the line is about 1/2-3/4″ up, it’s then time to flip it.  Cook for another 3 minutes (if that..watch that line!) and then pull the fish.

Make sure to let it ‘rest’ before cutting. The juices inside the fish are still hot and continue to cook the fish.

There is an external drip ring on the outside of the pan to catch any liquid or fat.  It’s a rather large channel, so no need to worry about it overflowing.

Once the grill pan cooled, I simply rinsed it off in warm water with a little light liquid soap and wiped down with a towel.

The great part about this pan is that I could use it on my outdoor BBQ as well.

Gingered Carrots

You will Need:

  • 4 sliced peeled carrots into 1/2″ chunks
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic reduction sauce
  • 1 tablespoon diced ginger
  • 1/2 tablespoon of agave nectar

Boil carrots until soft in all of the above ingredients. Liquid will have cooked down and be a rich dark sauce around the carrots.

Serve over the hot salmon.

Enjoy!

Thank you to TECHEF for the Smokeles Indoor Grill Pan to review. You may find one on Amazon.

Making Fresh Chocolate Mousse

Making Fresh Chocolate Mousse

I recently received the EurKitchen Whipped Cream dispenser to review and play with and now I’m addicted to this cool tool! This whipped cream dispenser converts fresh whipping cream into beautiful pressurized cool whip, or in my case creamy chocolate mousse.

How to Prepare

I simply mixed 1 cup of fresh cream, 1/2 cup of chocolate powder and 3 tablespoons of sugar into a bowl and stirred until dissolved. I then poured the mixture into the Eurkitchen dispenser and chilled for several hours.

The dispenser must have a pressurized N2O cartridge (not included with the EurKitchen dispenser) inserted in order to create the pressure. I was a little nervous adding the cartridge so I received some help from Bored Dad. However, now that I see how it works I realize it’s seriously no big deal. The EurKitchen dispenser comes with ample instructions, so just make sure to read over everything before you begin and all is easy and fabulous.

I did have to shake the can about 8 good times to get it to firm up. If you over shake the dispenser, you’ll run the risk of hardening up the cream. However, I think you’d really have to go to town shaking it to make that happen, so don’t worry!

Look at the pretty little chocolate mousse desserts I made in seconds! Add some berries, and I’m cranking out fancy pants desserts!

The EurKitchen Whipping Cream dispenser is available on Amazon here.

Today’s The Day With GooGone!

Today’s The Day With GooGone!

There are always endless things to clean and fix around my house. The yard needs constant maintenance as we live under a giant Torrey Pine that rains pine needles and sap upon us.  My daughter and her friends are in and out of the house and often leave a wake of debris. Dishes are seemingly endless.

With this stream of non-stop cleaning, I have learned to overlook stubborn little messes that I’ve attempted to clean before.

The orange Crayon mark on the hallway wall that my daughter did many years ago still remains. Repeated efforts to wash it with a regular household cleaning spray failed. The orange crayon mark mocks me.

The gooey dirty mess that some scotch tape left on my front gate still remains. Another failed cleaning attempt. I’ve often considered removing the gate so I didn’t have to see it anymore.

The pine sap that builds up on my front composite deck snarkily welcomes me home every day as it sticks to my shoes.

Enough!

Today is the day these little messes are going to take a hike! With Goo Gone Spray Gel, I’m taking back my household and getting rid of the little dirt spots that annoy me on a daily basis. Freedom from Crayon, Goo and Sap!

GooGone is idea of removing stickers/labels and adhesive residue from glassware, dishes, and other hard surfaces. It’s also a perfect for at removing crayon/markers/glue from painted walls, wood tables, and other hard surfaces.

Here’s how everything played out.

The Orange Crayon

With one squirt of the Goo Gone Spray Gel, the Orange Crayon that has bothered me for almost eight years was gone. Poof! Gone. Just like that. GooGone — where have you been all my life?

Check it out:

Sap on the Deck

I have a love hate relationship with the pine tree. I love looking at the beautiful branches with birds perched in it, but I hate the clean-up aftermath. Sap is a daily battle and the giant offending sap filled tree is going to keep dripping away.

Here’s the huge pine tree that likes to rain upon our walkway and deck. As the Orange Crayon came off so easily, I decided to put GooGone Spray Gel to the test and try it on some hardened dry sap.

A good healthy squirt on my plastic TREX Deck and a little elbow grease, and that dried caked on sap was coming off . I’m thinking of ordering a separate bottle of Goo Gone Spray Gel and just leaving it on my deck. (Is that weird?) If I could just keep up on the fresh sap that drops, I will certainly irradicate my sticky mess!

Gunk on the Gate

This gate gunk is a remnant of a Halloween past when I had something taped to my gate. The sticky goo from the tape wasn’t noticeable at first, but then as it got dirty over time it stood out. I have scratched a lot of it off with my fingernail, but wanted to see if Goo Gone could just wrap this little cleaning task up.

Again, with ONE squirt and a little scrub, that annoying gate gunk was gone!

All of these cleaning tasks took me less than 10 minutes to resolve with Goo Gone Spray Gel. Years of dirty annoyances as Good as Gone in mere minutes!

Please note: Goo Gone is not intended for use on silk, leather, suede, rubber, faux stainless steel, drywall, unfinished wood surfaces, and unsealed stone
Thank you to GooGone for having such an amazing product. I now feel equiped to take on any sticky mess at home.

Gluten-Free Brownies Mix

Guilt-Free Protein Pancakes

Guilt-Free Protein Pancakes

I love pancakes, but Insead of feeling fueled for the day after a shortstack, I feel as if I’ve been hit by a truck! Not OK! The empty carb-fest also makes me feel incredibly guilty. I really try to prepare meals that are high in nutrition, as we’re very busy during the day and it may be awhile before we sit down to eat again. Mealtime simply must count!

Therefore, I’m so excited that pancakes no longer have to be associated with empty calorie guilt! Paka Baking has created a natural pancake mix that is devoid of sugar, high in fiber and even higher in protein! There are an amazing 16 grams of protein jammed into each serving of pancakes.  An average person needs 46-56 grams of protein a day, so what a super way to get a protein boost – especially for vegetarians!

The Paka Baking Pancakes are quick and easy to make. Simply take 1 cup of mix and stir in 1/2 cup of water and 1 egg. Heat griddle to 350 degrees and cook up a stack of tasty nutrient rich pancakes! These protein rich pancakes come out light and fluffy and have a subtle coconut flavor which pairs amazingly well with fruit. I do love to add a little pure maple syrup and fresh fruit, so it’s great that this pancake mix starts out so low in sugar.

I’m always looking for ways to add additional fiber to my family’s diet, so what a bonus to have 11 grams of fiber per serving!
