FluffCo Pillow Review: Soft or Firm? Plus Black Friday Sale!

Did you know that your pillow should be selected based on how you sleep? I had no idea, which is probably why I have suffered from neck pain forever. As a side and stomach sleeper, I wasn’t sure as to which caliper of ‘softness or firmness’ I needed, so Fluffco sent me both a soft and firm alternative down pillow. I’m all over of the place while I sleep – picture a Tasmanian Devil, but in slow-mo, and probably with some drool. My current pillow was about as supportive as a deflated pool float, so I was excited to try out the Fluff Co Down Alternative Pillows; which are known for appeasing picky pillow people!  Choices such as alternative down, down, soft, and firm pillows are important to the unique way you sleep for maximum comfort.

FluffCo also offers real down feather pillows, but I opted for the Down Alternative. I ordered both a soft and a firm Down Alternative pillow to test out with a set of FluffCo pillowcases.

Boxes of FluffCo Pillows

The Fluffco pillow boxes arrived and the bags were very vacuumed sealed; I was worried they would not fluff. But oh boy, did they floof up quickly once exposed to my little world. My first impression was that they both had a great amount of fluffy filling. They also were soft and so cool to the touch. The FluffCo pillow boasts a unique blend of sustainable and allergy-friendly materials, so that hit some positive check marks for me. It features a 100% vegan microfiber polyester fill, surrounded by a 100% cotton, 300 thread count shell.

I didn’t know which pillow (soft or firm) to sleep with, so I brought both to bed! I found myself loving the firm one for reading, but when it came down to mushing the pillow around my face and head, I liked the soft better.  Lower loft pillows are good for stomach sleeping and higher loft are better for side sleeping. Both pillows serve a purpose to me, so I think having one of each was a good call in making my life comfortable. I’m also wondering if the firm one will mush down even more over time?

It also made me realize how I’ve been suffering with my current pillow. Yikes! I imagine I’m not the only one. Good pillows are essential to quality sleep, so a quality pillow pays dividends with a good night’s rest. That morning jaw pain that I’ve been accustomed to also was magically gone after a night’s rest on my FluffCo pillow. Imagine that!

This product has sustainability features recognized by trusted certifications and made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment as certified by OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100  I actually had to look up the OEKO TEX standard and am embarrassed to say I have no idea what my previous down-alternative pillow was made out of.

Watch the Review:

The Fluffco Pillows passed the OEKO-TEXT Standard Safety:

  • Tested for over 300 harmful substances, including formaldehyde, pesticides, and allergenic dyes.
  • Stricter limits than many national and international regulations.
  • Ensures textiles are safe for human health, especially for babies and children.

Did I mention that the FluffCo Pillowcases are DREAMY? Each case is made with 100% comb cotton and 300TC white sateen and is EXACTLY like the luxurious pillow cases often found in fancy hotels. If you get the FluffCo pillows, I suggest adding the pillow cases in their bundle deal as they are divine and you will save money!

How to Choose the Correct Pillow?

Side Sleepers – Side sleepers tend to need a higher loft pillow to properly align the spine

Back Sleepers – Back sleepers tend to need a lower loft pillow to properly align the spine

Stomach Sleepers – Stomach sleepers tend to need a lower loft pillow to properly align the spine

Restless Sleepers – Restless sleepers tend to need a lower loft pillow to properly align the spine when in the stomach or back positions

UPDATE ONE YEAR LATER: I still sleep with BOTH Pillows. I will start with the firm one and in the middle of the night grab the softy for when I roll over on my stomach. I sure wish I would NOT sleep on my stomach, but alas the soft pillow is a great fit for that. So – firm pillow when I’m on my side and soft when I roll over. So picky! But hey, this works REALLY well for me.
