1. Over-the-Counter Antifungal Medications

This is the most common and effective way to treat a yeast infection. Antifungal creams, suppositories, and tablets are readily available over-the-counter at most pharmacies. These medications work by killing the fungus causing the infection.

Boric Acid is a known remedy to curing yeast infections and is an ACOG-approved treatment.

Kushae is the first, and ONLY Doctor Formulated Feminine hygiene brand in America – the Kushae formula is the ONLY one with a Rapid Relief system that is shown to provide relief within 24 hours.

2. Probiotics:

These beneficial bacteria can help restore the natural balance of flora in the vagina, which can sometimes be disrupted and lead to yeast infections. You can get probiotics from yogurt with live cultures or from supplements. Interestingly enough, some women claim to have too MUCH good flora in their microbiome, so additional probiotics from yogurt did not help

3. Soothing Baths:

Taking a warm bath with Epsom salts or baking soda can help alleviate itching and discomfort from a yeast infection. Avoid using harsh soaps or scented products that can further irritate the vulva. Again, this is not the time for scented lavender bath salts! Opt for unscented organic bath salts. (Amazon for fast delivery)

4. Wear Cotton Underwear:

Cotton underwear allows for better ventilation and prevents moisture buildup, which can worsen yeast infection symptoms. Tight-fitting clothing like jeans can also trap moisture, so opt for looser-fitting pants or skirts when possible.  Put yourself a time-out from the cute thongs and opt for some basics until everything sorts out – Here’s a comfy cotton panty that’s available on Amazon, inexpensive and arrives quickly.

5. Maintain Good Hygiene:

While keeping the genital area clean is important, avoid douching, which can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina. Gently cleanse the vulva with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Kushae Vaginal Wash is Natural and Gentle. Use promo code: ROUTINE & SAVE AN ADDITIONAL 15%!

What caused the yeast infection?

If you’re wondering how a yeast infection was started in the first place, it’s simply caused by an overgrowth of a fungus called Candida albicans in the vagina. Candida normally lives in the vagina in small amounts, along with bacteria. But when the balance of these organisms is upset, Candida can overgrow and cause an infection.

These remedies can provide relief, it’s important to see a doctor if:

  • This is your first yeast infection.
  • Symptoms don’t improve within a few days of home treatment.
  • You experience recurrent yeast infections (more than 4 per year).
  • You have unusual symptoms like severe pain, bleeding, or vaginal sores.

Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent complications and ensure proper care.
