I found the most beautiful California grown turnips the other day at the store. I personally like turnip mash, but I decided to make my turnips family-friendly as I wanted these suckers consumed!
Turnips have a unique pungent taste that pairs well strong spices. I decided to bake these peeled and sliced ‘fries’ with spicy cayenne and warm flavorful nutmeg. It’s great by itself, or serve with a cooling cumin yogurt dip.
You will need:
- 2-3 large turnips (peel and cut into fries)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1-1/2 tsp cayenne
- 1-1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 Parmigiano Reggiano
How to prepare:
Take cut turnip fries and put in a large bowl. Toss with olive oil and spices.
Put on greased pan and put in the oven at 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
Lightly flip fries and top with cheese. Let bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese has crisped up.
Serve hot and fresh on parchment paper and enjoy!
