Productive Ways to Help You Switch off As A Mom

Productive Ways to Help You Switch off As A Mom

As a mom you’re used to grabbing a snack on the go, getting dressed in two minutes flat and rushing to the bathroom before one of your kids breaks something downstairs while unattended. Life as a mom is chaotic and slightly stressful, so you deserve a break whenever you can get it. This is your sign for some ME TIME!  Finding productive ways to switch off as a mom can be difficult as you never quite know how much time you have to get stuck into an enjoyable activity. Whether you’re planning a perfect spa day with one of your girl friends or enjoying a fulfilling conversation on the phone with a loved one, there are so many productive activities you can do which can help you to turn off your brain and feel like “you” again.

Call a Friend or Loved One

When you’re hoping to switch off your mom brain and enjoy a little bit of much needed “me time” , calling your friend can be one of the best ways to achieve clarity, calm and peace, or at the very least catch up on some ‘tea’.  If you’re stressed out about the little things going on in your life, friends are great for badly needed pep talks to boost your ego and give you a spring in your step again. Just a ten minute phone call with someone who means the most to you can bring you back to a positive place.

Do a Puzzle

Keeping your brain sharp as a mom is much easier said than done, especially when there’s so much to think about and consider on a day to day basis. Doing a puzzle or online game such as sudoku is a great way to recharge your brain and allow you to forget about being a mom for just a few minutes. This small brain exercising activity may seem like a small thing to do each day, but it can make you feel accomplished and satisfied as soon as you’ve completed your game!

Paint Your Nails

Life is so much better when you have painted nails, and that’s a fact! Not only do you feel much more put together, but you will also feel more self-confidence too. Taking time out of your day to paint your nails and add a pop of color to your fingertips and toes will give you a much needed pep in your step again. It’s much quicker than going to the salon and you’ll achieve results that are just as beautiful!

Enjoy a Hot Bubble Bath

As a busy mom, you don’t get much time to enjoy hot bubble baths but when the opportunity presents itself, you have to take it! Light a candle, fill your bath with your favorite bubbles and read a book as you indulge in a quiet bath that is much-deserved. Bonus: Make yourself a healthy bougie beverage or smoothie!

Meditate

There are so many moms out there who swear by the power of meditation as it can do so much good for your mental health. When you’re surrounded by shouting children all day, sometimes you just need to take a step back and meditate for a few minutes. If you have a smartphone you can download a whole host of useful apps to help guide you through the process of mediation. At your fingertips you will have access to many different mediation types, from sleeping aids to visualizations. Once you have stepped fully into your meditation mom-zone, you’ll never want to come out of it!

Drink Your Favorite Beverage!

Whether you’re partial to a vanilla latte, or you’re a sucker for a large glass of chilled rose, now would be the ideal time to treat yourself to your favorite beverage. Most of the time you don’t get to sit down for more than ten minutes at a time, so why not soak in every moment and allow yourself to indulge in a glass of wine or a hot cup of coffee as soon as you get the chance.

As you can see, there are a whole host of ideas for you to choose from when it comes to switching off your tired and busy brain as a mom. Feeling productive can be a difficult thing to measure, especially when you have a whole host of different things on your mind all at the same time. When you’re indulging in your self care activity make sure you give yourself plenty of time and make sure the kids are taken care of in a separate setting. You might find that your activities are best to do during the evenings when they’re in bed so that there is little chance of interruption!
