Exploring Europe’s cultural gems on a cycling journey

 

Europe boasts an incredibly rich history, some stunning scenery and plenty of varied terrain, making it an ideal region to explore by bike.

Whether you’re looking for city charm, coastal beauty or countryside freedom, there’s plenty to discover on a Europe cycling tour, whatever your interests. 

Algarve, Portugal 

With a rugged coastline, gorgeous sea views, secluded beaches and quaint villages, southern Portugal’s Algarve offers an ideal location for a cycling trip. 

While the summer months can get hot, spring and autumn provide the perfect opportunities for enjoying a leisurely Portugal bike tours journey through. Tavira is a historical city in the east of the region and enjoys traditions based on a variety of cultures. The Loire Valley, France 

Discover Renaissance history and charming Chateaus in this stunning French region. This is a perfect trip for a leisurely cycle through some stunning villages. Enjoy a slower pace and take the time to stop off at the many vineyards which offer some of the country’s most famous wines.

The terrain is generally flat and is ideal for every ability, particularly those new to cycling in France. There are also a variety of options for sampling the local cuisine at one of the many Michelin restaurants, making this area the place to visit for the ultimate fine dining experience. 

Lake Garda to Venice 

A famous gem located in the north of Italy, Lake Garda offers unrivalled mountain and lakeside views. This route also allows cyclists to experience Venice, the popular and romantic city of canals. 

Cycle paths and quiet roads link Lake Garda with Verona, another Italian cultural gem, full of Roman architecture and the setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”. This riverside city offers some great cycling routes and panoramic views. 

Sicily

This Italian island is home to a rich history spanning the Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans, making it one of the most culturally interesting locations in Europe. While cycling here can be challenging due to the hilly terrain, the views, cuisine and archaeological sites make the journey one of the most rewarding.
