AI is no doubt a great tool for bloggers to clean up text, check for grammar and fill in general information without much research. In fact, I am most definitely going to run this blog post through an AI program to check for grammar errors. However, Influencers offer something that AI simply can not.
Influencers thrive on creating authenticity and therefore can build a better bridge to the consumer because our content is relatable, unique and sometimes vunerable. AI text frankly is blah – often the content sounds like a monotone robot regurgitating encyclopedia facts, much like my book reports in 5th grade where I no doubt copied line by line. (Sorry, Mrs. Locke)
As AI can’t pick up on social cues or emotional nuances, the influencer experience is still the best bet for conveying authenic content. For example, AI can generate an article about ‘Things to do on the Oregon Coast this Summer’ including restaurants and hours. However, will AI point out that the sun sets at 9PM and most restaurants close by 8PM, leaving you and your sun loving family starving if you’ve lost track of time? Probably not. AI would not connect those dots, yet. Again, it’s the personal stories that make an influencer’s experience relatable.
While AI can be good at following trends, true creativity and the ability to spark something entirely new is still a hurdle. Asking AI to generate witty or funny content often misses the mark and comes off as cheesy, or worse horrifying.
Actually, I take it back. The AI generated beer commercial is unintentally, very funny indeed.
What Influencers SHOULD use AI for:
Sourcing facts, studies, and history is easy peasy with AI and I’m thankful for that. I could look this information up by doing manual searches on Google, but why would I do that when Gemini can condense it all for me from one well defined search.
My most favorite use of AI is to come up with catchy headlines for blog posts or videos. I’m often presented with an assortment of titles, which if anything, expands some SEO terms that I may have overlooked.
When I’ve hit the wall and I need some ideas, AI has been there to give me inspiration and even rough drafts to work from.
There are also AI tools out there that can track key metrics for engagement and growth and even help me analyze my target market. Again, AI is solid for the nuts and bolts and can help influencers ‘work smarter, not harder’.
The Future of AI
As of late, Google has been wading through seas of AI generated content and has just issued a Core Update that some people are freaking about it. The bottom line is that Google still loves and prioritizes authentic content, and honest reports on life, travel, food and even product reviews. I feel that there is a perfect harmony out there with AI generated content blended with a real person’s take on things.
But will AI Generated Influencers take over in the future? In China, they are already live streaming in full force.
I was hoping to attend the upcoming Ai4 Conference in Vegas to get a pulse on what is on the horizon and if any of it would be useful to bloggers and influencers, but sadly my media pass has been denied because I am a Mom Blogger media passes are reserved for those who predominantly write about AI/tech. So sadly I can’t fill you all in. Perhaps the AI industry is planning on creating AI Mom Bloggers and our authentically curated days are numbered?
