How to Fit Fitness Into a Busy Mom’s Day: Simple Strategies

Being the mother of a toddler is so tiring, but you must also prioritize your health, as staying fit is a must. That’s why I am here with tips on how to fit fitness into a busy mom’s day, which I’m sure many mothers will find helpful.

Stay with me to discover how you and your kids can enjoy working out together. The types of exercises you will find easy to do and more in today’s read.

7 Tips For Busy Mothers To Create A Workout Routine

These are my tips on including a fitness session, even if you are a busy mommy.

1. Space To Workout

It is easy to do something when the perfect atmosphere is created. Since the best way to keep my son occupied is by giving him his toys, I have set up my workout space in his playroom. I have kept my yoga mat and weightlifters in one corner, and I hung my TV on the wall to watch workout videos and exercise while keeping an eye on my little one.

2. Workout At Intervals

In my case, it’s only possible to work out for up to 15 minutes in one go. Hence, I have divided my fitness routine into four sessions, each of which lasts 10-15 mins. Little bits of exercise throughout the whole day still contribute to staying fit. My routine is a variation of a yoga session, cardio, weightlifting and walking.

We sometimes visit the park, too, where he feeds the pigeons, and I take the opportunity to do a few pushups and squats.

3. Head For The Streets

We all need a breath of fresh air, as those toddlers do know how to drive us mommies insane. That’s why when I feel that my son has become uncontrollable and is showing unecessary tantrums, we both go for a long walk in our neighbourhood. We race each other and find slopes to run up and down on.

4. Visit The Gym

Some gyms have a play zone or daycare area for kids to spend time while they attend fitness classes. Or, if you can find a personal fitness trainer at the gym, you could ask them if they conduct private workout sessions for mommies at home.

5. Crawl With Your Munchkin

Since we spend most of the time sitting on the floor with our toddlers, it is a good way to try various exercises, including crawling. At times, I throw my son’s favorite toy at a distance so that he can only reach it by crawling while I crawl behind him.  The other thing I do is while he is crawling around the house, I try to fit in a few planks and mountain climbers before he comes and finds me.

6. Bike Ride With The Family

Cycling is something we all enjoy at home. Sometimes, on Sunday afternoons, all of us take our bikes and stroll nearby. We get to spend time together, and our body gets exercise, too.

The other thing I do is go for solo bike rides on weekend mornings while my son sleeps with his father. Every mother needs alone time.

7. Find Another Parent

There are plenty of parents who want to create a fitness routine but need help figuring out what to do. That’s why you can get in touch with other mommies and see if they are interested to do something atleast once a week while the daddies take care of the kids.

Now that I have enlightened you on how to fit fitness into a busy mom’s day, you shouldn’t have any more excuses to avoid working out. Get what you need and start moving your body to stay fit.
