Reencle Home Composter Review
The Reencle utilizes powerful microbial decomposition to break down organic food waste, including fruit and vegetable scraps, in as little as 24 hours. Its space-efficient design significantly reduces volume, eliminating the need for frequent emptying. When the compost reaches the fill line, I harvest nutrient-rich compost for my garden, leaving a starter culture for continuous operation. Unlike traditional composting, there’s no need for ongoing microbe additions after the initial setup.

How Do The Microbes Break Down Food Waste?
Mixing and Environment Control:
- The Reencle composter uses a mixing mechanism to ensure the food waste is consistently exposed to the microbes and oxygen.
- The machine is designed to maintain an optimized environment that speeds up the microbial decomposition.
With spring gardening on the horizon, the Reencle’s nutrient-rich compost is perfect for nurturing my veggie and herb starters. The clear instructions on acceptable materials make daily use effortless. I maintain optimal moisture for the microbiome with occasional water additions, ensuring a damp, not liquid, environment. Tip: I found that if I chop up large pieces, the organic matter breaks down faster.

This low-maintenance appliance works tirelessly, operating 24/7 with minimal noise. The gentle churning of the internal paddles is barely audible. It’s best to keep feeding the Reencle scraps of food on a regular basis to keep the microbes chomping away. They recommend NOT adding in sauces or scraps that are super acidic or salty (as that could hurt or slow down the microbes).
Going on a trip? What to do with your Reencle Composter
So I travel alot, so this was a concern for me. Thankfully the Reencle Composter microbes are hearty little guys. Here’s the protocol if you are traveling: For short trips of less than a week, you can maintain normal operation of your Reencle. Simply ensure the microbes are evenly moistened by adding a small amount of water on your departure day. However, for extended absences exceeding a week, a specific procedure is recommended. Begin by ceasing the addition of food waste two to three days prior to leaving. Subsequently, initiate the “dry” cycle for two to three days to thoroughly dehydrate the microorganisms, preventing mold growth caused by humidity or residual food. On the day of departure, disconnect the power cord. Upon your return, reconnect the power, activate the unit, and allow six hours for the microorganisms to reactivate after adding 500ml of water.

Odor Control: A Game Changer
One of the most impressive features is the odor control. The Reencle effectively eliminates unpleasant smells. While a slight scent of biodegradation may occur momentarily when adding scraps, it doesn’t linger. The built-in carbon filter and purification button provide additional odor management.

There are other composters out there that use heat to bake or dry the organic matter. This uses a lot of energy and it also creates a smell, reminiscent of baked vegetables but not a good way. With the Reencle composter, we are only using approximately 1.25 kWh per day, which is about $2 to $3 a month. Impressive!
Initially, I tested the Reencle on my countertop, but its size prompted a move to the floor as it is about the same size as a trash can. The convenient motion sensor for hands-free lid opening adds a touch of modern convenience.
The Reencle seamlessly integrates into my kitchen, offering effortless microbial food waste recycling. I love contributing to sustainable living by turning kitchen scraps into valuable compost.
This electric composter is a worthwhile investment, aligning with my goals of reducing food waste without compromising on convenience or odor control. If you’re looking for an indoor composting solution that’s quiet, efficient, and odor-free, the Reencle Home Composter is a must-have.
