Teen skin can be volatile and prone to break-outs due to changing hormones and excess oil and bacteria build up from sports and long days at school. Winter time can be especially problematic for teen skin as the dry air can block in oil and dirt exacerbating break-outs! Here are some tips that my teen follows to keep her skin looking fresh and hydrated all season long!
Stay Hydrated! Just because it’s cold, doesn’t mean you aren’t losing moisture – if anything, dry winter air can dehydrate you faster! Your teen should bring a water bottle with them during the day and drink at least 24 ounces of water while at school. The rule of thumb is 8 x 8 (eight, eight-ounce water servings a day) but that’s not realistic for many teens at school. Go for 24 ounces during school hours, with more after sports of course.
Eat Healthily – Make sure to incorporate fruits and veggies into your diet every day. Not only will fruits and veggies keep digestive systems healthy, but skin will glow from antioxidants and vitamins that help protect your skin from free radicals and sun damage.
Keep Skin Clean – Dry winter air can dry out skin and lock in dirt and oils causing breakouts. If a breakout does occur, don’t bury it with thick irritating make-up! Keep skin fresh, and use Neutrogena® SkinClearing complexion Perfector during the day to cover up and clear any breakouts!
My teen applies a thin layer in problem areas. The coverage is sheer, yet effective. The Neutrogena® SkinClearing Complexion Perfector is powered by Microclear®blemish-fighting technology. It has Salicylic Acid which helps dry up any active acne.
Moisturize! – Keep skin hydrated by using Hydro Boost cosmetic products. View the collection here.

Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Lip Treatment is great any time of the day. Use it before makeup application to pump up lips hydration before applying make-up, or use before bed as an overnight lip treatment for dry cracked lips.
