Natural Beauty Blogs & Products Round-up

Happy Earth Week! If you’re looking to green up your beauty routine but don’t know how to where to get started, here are a few great online natural beauty  sources to check out!

More and more personal care companies are committing to producing cleaner, safer cosmetics that support health and sustainability.

Natural Beauty Blogs

Amanda Jo of Organic Bunny is a popular blogger website providing resources for organic alternatives to all of your favorite products. In addition to the product reviews, she also provides fun hair and makeup tutorials using organic products.

Organic Bunny also sells organic and natural makeup and skincare, so it’s a great resource to find new green products to try.

Conscious Skincare

If you’re looking for skincare product that not only take care of your skin but also the environment and your pocket, cocokind offers affordable cruelty-free, plant-powered, sustainable products for all skin types. The San Francisco all-natural and cruelty-free brand has been in the skincare scene since 2014. Give their bestsellers like the turmeric tonic and AHA jelly a try!

Trust Beauty

TRUST BEAUTY is one of my favorite natural skin care lines!  TRUST has identified key adaptogen ingredients for skincare that possess reparative properties, such as the ability to rejuvenate skin suffering from cellular breakdown caused by the environment and external stressors. These adaptogens aren’t funky lab created chemical monsters – they are basically very hearty herbs that have been used as herbal medicine for centuries and help your skin adapt to it’s surroundings. From adaptogens to cannabinoids, their formulators, chemists, scientists, and licensed estheticians have collaborated to created high end products.

Protect Skin From the Sun Naturally

Half the battle for good skin care is protecting our skin! But how do you protect skin from the sun without funky chemicals? Check out reef and ocean-friendly sunscreen products like ALL Good.  ALL good makes organic body care products that not only offer soothing natural benefits of botanical ingredients, but offer a full line of Reef Friendly Sunscreen products. Their mineral based sunscreen is not only super effective against harmful rays, but it also doesn’t damage our fragile reefs and other aquatic ecosystems.

Desert Essence Natural Hair Care

One of my personal natural hair care favs is Desert Essence. Founded in 1978, Desert Essence is a leader in natural personal care. Their inspiration and ingredients draw from the desert, as it is “a model of pristine balance and sustainability, where limited resources if used responsibly, offer the body and spirit untold benefits.” Using nutrient-rich desert botanicals revered in native cultures for their healing properties, Desert Essence’s body, skin, and hair care products work in harmony with the body to soothe, nurture, and restore. They have also taken steps to ensure both their products and practices reflect the serious commitment they have made to the health of the planet. This is my go to hair care product when my hair is feeling dry and thirsty – plus it smells amazing!

Natural Deodorants

Part of natural beauty is not only looking good, but smelling good! Natural deodorants have come a long way from those crystal rocks that frankly chaffed and were useless in the fight against the stink. Here are some of my personal natural deodorant favorites in a recent blog post.

Teen Hygiene

Prep U uses CLEAN natural ingredients that are effective against body bacteria that feed on sweat, causing foul body odor.  They have a body and skin care line of natural products that are made exclusively for teen boys!

Deciphering Logos

If you’re looking at natural products and see logos that claim natural, cruelty-free, green, etc. make sure to look up the criteria for each logo representation at the Greenchoices.org website.

Some unsavory groups and companies make up their own logos to make it appear that they are green or eco-friendly, but if you do a little digging you’ll see their fancy little award or icon is just a made-up marketing ploy. It only takes a few minutes to do a little digging, and it’s well worth it!
