$10 JetBlue Airfare: I Did This!

So, Monday morning, I get up at 6AM to check my email. My household is fairly quiet at this time, so I consider it my time of zen. Bing! A new email comes through, and I spy a '$10 JetBlue Airfare Sale'. I click on it, almost regretting it at the moment I clicked, because I know these are just sucker deals.

The ad states that JetBlue is indeed offering one-way routes for $10, and had a huge list of routes that were not applicable. I didn't see any routes out of San Diego though, so for the heck of it, I clicked to their website. Afterall, my coffee was still brewing away, so I had a few seconds to kill.

For fun, I put in San Diego to Boston, as JFK didn't sound as appealing. There, before my little eyes, I see May 11th $10 airfare from SAN to BOS. I then see $10 return trip on May 12th, from BOS to SAN. Wow...fast turnaround, but how cool would it be to fly out to Boston, check out the town, have a lobsta' roll, and then fly home.

Throwing caution to the wind, I went for it and selected an afternoon flight out on the 11th, and return flight home at 5pm the next day. The site started to jam, as I could tell the news was already out. There was no way I was going to get this deal. I never get the deal.

Guess what, I got the deal.

My husband, sleepy and in need of caffeine, lumbers out to the living room. I ask him if he wants to go out for lobster rolls for lunch on Wednesday. "Sure", he croaks.

"...in Boston", I add.

He looks at me, and says, "What" about 34 times.

I reassure him that we can get babysitting, but was he up for it as I just scored the deal of the century.

With airport taxes and fees, the total was $82 for both my husband and I . How could we NOT do this trip?

Long story short, we just returned from our incredible bargain journey, and we did indeed have our lobster rolls at Union Oyster House Restaurant (the oldest restaurant in the United States), and we managed to hoof it up the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail, all in one very short day! The lobster lunch, by the way, cost almost as much as our flights on JetBlue.

JetBlue was phenomenal. This was actually the first time I have taken this airline, and I was beyond impressed. My 6'5" husband fit in the seats, with legroom. We enjoyed tasty wine, Direct TV, and pleasant staff. What more could we ask for!

So, thank you JetBlue for the awesome trip, and the awesome deal! I will now pay more attention to my emails, and the sales that they offer, as I can vouch that JetBlue is the real deal in advertised deals. I've also booked our summer travel plans through JetBlue, and I'll be recommending them to my other West Coast friends who may be unaware of them.

By the way, if you do head out to Boston, make sure to take the water taxi from Long Wharf to Logan International. What a great, fun & inexpensive way to get back to the airport! The water taxi guy even let me drive the boat.
